ITAB is an interdepartmental center for research and advanced technologies established by the G. d'Annunzio University of Chieti with the participation of the following departments:

The Director, appointed by Rectoral Decree upon proposal of the Board of Directors of the University, is chosen from a list of two candidates identified among the members of the Steering Committee.

The Director remains in office for three years. The appointment may be renewed following evaluation by the Board of Directors of the University. The Director appoints a Deputy Director chosen among the members of the Steering Committee whose assignment ends with the termination of the Director's mandate.

The ITAB Board of Directors is composed of 6 full-time tenured professors. The members of the Board of Directors are appointed by the University Board of Directors from a list of candidates (whose scientific profile is consistent with the mission of the ITAB) proposed by the individual Departments affiliated with the ITAB. The Health Director and the Technical Coordinator participate in the meetings of the Board of Directors, without the right to vote.
